Crystal Clear
Biting my tongue too late,
My spoken thoughts were crystal clear.
I feel the instant regret that always follows.
I say I didn’t mean it,
But it came from inside, where truth is hidden.
I didn’t mean for you to hear it,
But I meant it with all my heart.
I only didn’t want you to hear, because I deserve the same words spoken to me.
Ashamed, I turn away, foot in mouth.
Nobody deserves a second chance,
But since I was given one, shouldn’t I give back?
Patience is always the hard path to tread,
But that is the long road many have taken for me.
Now it’s my turn.
It is time to turn that hidden truth into something I don’t have to hold back,
Then speaking my mind will not lead to remorse,
Because everything on it will not be hidden anymore.
