From Memory
Your eyes never sparkle
Not in the way I recall from memory
Do you kiss the way you used to-
Will full lips and eyes open?
I watch you sometimes when you pass
Notice the way your shoulders slump
And wonder if you miss
My hand in yours
Your hair gel has not been seen
Even when you never went a day without
Where as now you barely manage
To carry your binder upward
And even on the brightest days
Your sunglasses remain tucked in your hair
Revealing the sorrow in green-hazel eyes
That I never got to see
So now I indulge myself at the sight
But do recall from those close moments-
Your eyes never sparkle
Not in the way I recall from memory
