April (Memoria)
i still remember that day. you,
face shuttered,
the click and the closing away of time.
turning away from us so we couldn’t see you crying.
it was cold that night and we floated
through everything like we did in our dreams,
back when dreams still had
weight and meaning.
i remember that night clearly; i captured it
with my own camera, the one
behind my eyes.
the streetlamps were already lit.
and you,
with your hair untwisting from your bun
and curling in their light,
were there—
standing on the path in the cooling day,
the darkness gathering between the trees.
