Flames die, the ashes fry, the moment lies, suspended

All that’s left, after the wreck, as firemen check for survivors
Embers
You can’t forget, what once was blaze, is now of haze and smoke
Embers
Among the ashes, a massive task, to ask for more, to find a source
Embers
From where it came, a hurricane, hungry infernal inferno, remains a mystery
Embers
Pick your place, a nameless face, of building or man, lays still
Embers
But not all is lost, for even the cost, gives way to new days and inspiration
Embers
Golden phoenix, rise again, for-my friend, you are not lost, but found
Embers
I’m the only one, the only son, who looks from this perspective, a detective on a search
Embers
Among the rubble, it may be subtle, but one heirloom, to pass on, to hold on, shines
Embers
A glowing shrine, that once was mine, but now a token, forsaken, forgiven
Embers
Flames, out blown, seeds of ashes are sewn, a temple for a sample of a relic
Embers
A burnt match reveals the catch, a charred, scarred memory from long ago
Embers
Who once was a friend, but friendship ends, and jealously zealously acts up
Embers
He waits from a distance, glances for an instant, an innocent infant, a passerby
Embers
But I know his story, the glory he feels, as he steals away what I stole from him
Embers
The world then spins, a top in the wind, as the pieces fall into place
Embers
A story ends, another begins, a quest, a test, to hold close, to stay strong, to prove once and for all, that two can play this game, two very much the same, to songs to be sung in harmony, in dissonance, to never be forgotten. And so it starts.
