In Country
You've been in country way to long
I can barely picture your face
I hope you're still carrying me with you
Your fragile, glass angel
Sitting contently in your pocket
I hope the picture I had drawn
Isn't to faded and you and I
Are still dancing in that fantastical ballroom
Like Beauty and the Beast
Isn't fate so cruel to leave me here
To take you there
I wake up every day still worrying
Hoping my nightmares are only dreams
Praying you're still asleep
I look into the moon and wonder
If you are looking to a morning sun
Thinking of me
As I am thinking of you
My letters are scattered across my cluttered desk
Sitting undated, well worn
For even though they were never sent
I read them every night
Wishing they were words I could really say
You haven't written to me
And I wonder if its because of the way we left it
So bittersweet
With you going off to country
And me staying to wait
For a future we won't ever have
To a fate we have lost
Just remember I'm still here
Waiting for you to come home
Please think of me
I'll think of you
While you're
In country
