driveway gravel
he never did call back
that's kind of what it looks like,
cowardice I mean
sometimes we danced barefoot to loud slow music and
cheap pink champagne
no one can hear you when you're on
top of the rock-
nevermind, never you
mind
once I saw you
looking out a hotel window I saw you, two
stories down in the snow
I didn't know it was you at the time
it made me smile to think I was higher
and the checkout boy at the deli I gave my number to
with the squinted smiled eyes
I'd buy sushi from him every day of the week if I
had the money
that'skind of what it looks like,
being broke and all and I
think you know what I mean
he never did call back
