Chased
Her face is tear-streaked, dirty,
as she runs across the field.
No one with their comforts,
could help her get away.
When they want you,
they come,
if you try to hide,
they'll find you.
No one has escaped,
and lived to see the sun.
You think that you can make it,
just 100 yards to go,
you see the flash of light,
and suddenly you know.
Neither wind, nor rain, nor chunks of hail,
could make them stay away.
They've found you,
are right behind you,
you feel their cold, lifeless hands
~ darkness~
You awaken,
your head is pounding,
you try to move but can't.
They've bound your hands and feet,
there's nothing you can do.
You try to find some solace,
in this horrendous place and time.
Your turmoil is in vain.
For the key has made the lock come open,
on your past so less than reputable.
They know about what happened,
and don't seem to care at all.
All they want is tomorrow's pay,
to make sure and see i fall.
The get me out and don't let me walk,
I am not allowed to talk,
but think as I may,
That I won't live to see another day.
If I struggle, they will only kill me quicker.
With thoughts so dark I am consumed
with despair and agony.
They throw me in,
I sink.
I cannot escape the chains that hold me.
I am no longer living,
but am dead.

I really love this piece, particularly the last line. It certainly has a surprise element to it! You did a great job of portraying the emotions the speaker feels to the readers. If you get a chance, please read some of my works and offer any feed back you have :)
