I may not be the same but neither are you
It always takes me too long to reach the phone
When I answer you have already hung up
The unasked question stuck in the cord
Which is blocked by words we’d both rather not hear
But things have been said that can’t be unheard
Things have changed and I can’t find the button to undo it all
Because my computer crashes and drags me along
Like a sinking ship
Drowning my words in a sea of apologies
Tainting them for you to over think
I forget to close the door again
A gush of wind carries a string of complaints
Into the room
But unlike the door my mind is closed
Were it a parachute I would have fallen
I can’t function or concentrate anyway
I’m looking for you but I have to watch out
Something tells me it has something to say
But I never listen
Which is the reason we’re lost in the first place
I don't give up and cover my ears
Determined to find you
And pick up our conversation where we dropped it
