Heartbeat
It muffles your heartbeat.
It clouds your mind.
It clogs your perception.
It chokes the air,
Looming, as if waiting to consume you.
A state of mind that twists your thought into thinking it is a physical fear.
You can feel it, weighing you down.
You can see it, flickering in the corner of your eyes.
And you can hear it, buzzing steadily in your ears.
It is a monster we long for, yet dread.
It is silence.
