Omens
I will not wish upon a star
For when it fails its beauty falls
Nor would I want to look so far
When my pounding heart to me calls
Awakened from its lonely sleep
By the light in your splendid eyes
With which the heavens cannot keep
For they are brighter than the skies.
I shall not tap upon the wood,
Three times, or less, or even more
For this sound, I know, never could
Protect me from all things sore
As your sweet voice
For when I hear you speak
My troubles have no choice
But to be small and meek.
All my fingers I do uncross
With them I’d rather reach for you
Ill luck receives another loss
When with one glance, my dear, you slew
The bad that lives inside me
And in its place, you did leave
Shoots of love that you must see
A love story we must weave
