What Is Known Of Love
This is what I know of love:
It isn’t real; cannot be found
Not here, not now: the only sound
Stems from the wounded man
Of this new hour
Determined to retain his power
To add the fuel to the roaring fire
What searing pains
Are they that he retains
He cannot leave but nor can stay
This is the love I see today
And, indeed, on that other hand, she
Ridden with iron misery
To scald the skin
Turn black the soul
How that poison takes its toll
The agony of doing wrong
And forced to feel that tanged remorse
Yet still a glimpse of defiance shows
He’ll have not her: not by force
She cannot go but nor can wait
This is my view of passion’s fate
