'Never ruin an apology with an excuse'

Like a wave crashing against a dark, hollowed cave
I beat my chest, stripping the pain
Unlike the moon who shines its brilliant light
I stand faded by the deceit and lies
Wishing for truth
Succumbed by your own vice
As the tree who's been uprooted
devastated and left behind
I feel neglected and bare of my pride
Not just tossed aside but shooed away
sawed to pieces
engulfed by flame
Like the bird flying high in the sky
I'm free yet captured inside
Locked in a solid iron cage
My heart weighing heavy
Seduced by outrage
shot to death
caught surprised
dreaming of just a place to hide

The author's comments:
Sometimes you feel lost in your own skin, people (even ones you love), trying to change and control everything that makes you special. Until you just want to lie down and never get up. Until you want to scream but your voice is mute. Until your so confused that there's nothing else.. to do
