The Arrival
Translucent crystals crunching
under every chilling step.
Branches on trees weary
and cold, they freeze.
Lungs are sliced by the
tough glacial air. Just frost.
We wait.
We watch.
The ground is frozen
yet all that lay upon it
are blades of frozen grass
and innocent imprints
of anxious children. Just Frost.
We know
It’s near
The temperature plunges
But when will it happen?
The beauty lingers above
In the heavenly clouds
As if procrastinating
It’s tumble. Just frost.
Finally
It’s here
Cascading down the indigo slopes,
passing our eyes like memories.
The delicate flakes we’ve been
awaiting for weeks to arrive. Just snow.
