Falling
I’ve climbed so far
From where I’ve been.
The dark abyss that is my soul
Lay far below me.
The arms of the ones I hold dear
Weave into a safety net to assure me if I slip.
There’s hope.
I can almost see
The rising sun of a new day.
I can almost scent
The fragrance of the morning dew.
I slip slightly;
Just enough to startle me.
I glance downward to my safety net for reassurance
Only to find it ablaze.
People fall away
And my support system turns to ash.
And then…
I
Am
Falling.
