The Cat and the Mouse.
They watch me unlock my locker,
as if I'm sawing my way through
as I unload my perfectly preserved books,
from my perfectly tidy locker
and they stare at me a little longer.
They sneer at me if I ask a question,
and look at me as if I asked 'is the sky blue miss?'
they talk about my clothes and appearance,
like I come from a developing country,
They don't care.
It's not only me they chew at,
Other little vulnerable mice,
who were unfortunate enough to get in their scent,
are trampled over and skinned of their pride and self-esteem,
and avoid coming to school for worry of spilling their spleen.
But she's the one they all follow,
she's the one they all laugh with,
she's the one who threatens me while they all sympathise with their eyes behind her back.
You'd think I am the mouse,
but in truth...
I am the cat.
