Glow-In-The-Dark Stars
Looking up from my bed
I stared at my beige ceiling
Glancing at each glow-in-the-dark star
I wasn't even a little kid anymore
But I didn't have the nerve
Nor the will power
To take them down
A shadow down at the foot of my bed
Causing me to jump
A small giggle
It was just my cat
He was my only weapon
Against the dark
The only one to keep me sane
Makes me think of my album of photos
All of them of pictures and things to keep me sane
All in all
It's just junk
Maybe someday
I'll have the courage to rip
Those stars down
