The Babbling Diatribe
The allergy tablets in the small
Purple pill box have run out
But that’s okay; they didn't
Really work for me anyways
And by the way I wore your
Baseball hat on the homecoming
You didn't take me too and it felt
Just so terribly ironic and also
Kind of tragic but I might be
Okay except whenever I ask for
Tea I think of you and I am emphatic
About my tea (I could drink
Gallons of the stuff, really)
But you’re ruining it and you
Don’t even know it because
You are in a land far, far
Away in your baseball uniform
Emblazoned number nine—hey
Do you remember that time
I asked if there was anything
You loved more than being
At the pitcher’s mound and
You replied “You, of course,”
And I kind of melted into the
Floor right there but then I
Realized there are probably other
Things you love much more than me and
You were just trying to charm
Me like always and I guess
It worked until I remembered
That you drink milk with every
Meal and I am lactose intolerant.
