Woods
As I was walking, all I saw was
Brown dirt on the ground. In the distance
Crows cawed as the sun set
Descending below the tree line. An
Empty feeling in the darkness. The smells of
Fall gently caressing my nose,
Great smells like the burning of leaves.
Hills as far as my eye can see.
Ice cold feeling as the breeze picked up.
Jumping over tree stumps hoping I don’t
Kill myself by breaking my neck.
Life scurrying all around me.
Mounds of dirt where animals have dug.
No other place is quite like this.
Open space, where not a lot of
People have traveled.
Quiet, yet loud away from the city.
Really take in your surroundings,
Something simple like watching a squirrel
Try to climb up a tree.
Underneath a canopy of leaves is a
Very different place, Almost like a
Whole different world that not many people see.
X-shaped paths crossing every which way.
Yesterday seems so far away, but animals
Zipping by show how important each day can be.
