Choke Collar and Leash
I am on leash,
Dragged back and forth
Take me for a walk in the dark.
Blind fold me every time so I can’t see what sits right in front of me.
Pull my choke collar a bit tighter.
I can not breath,
And with every gasp comes another tug, another pull.
I am on leash,
And you choose where I walk.
I walk right but my legs only move left.
You stand above me and look down to the ground because that’s where I lay now.
You give another kick while I lay broken
But I will never be able to see bruises on my skin.
You will never be able to see bruises on my skin.
I am on a leash,
Because of you I am torn and tattered.
On this leash I have no control where I walk.
Without it, I run in circles.
With it, I keep walking and go nowhere.
I can feel the joy behind the hand that pulls me every which way.
You keep walking me in the dark with not a street lamp in sight.
I am on a leash.
I’m waiting for the path I am walking on to open and fill with light.
But you still give me no light.
All you give me is another scar that isn’t visible.
My road is filled with nothing but glass
And you’re the one that keeps breaking it all
So with every step I get cut a little bit more.
I am on a leash,
But I just felt the clip that can set me free.
What if I run in circles without you walking me?
Because I see the first street lamp I know that I can walk myself.
I will pull this clip and I will make you be the one to remove my chock collar.
You will clean up the glass while I walk away on my own, With no leash attached.
Because now no one walks on a leash.
