Candle
Trapped in darkness
It stands tall and alone
It feels cold and neglected
Then you come by
Fire so warm in your hands
You light the wick
And it feels acknowledged
Standing in light
It stands shorter now
It feels warm and loved
Then you come by
Intentions unknown
You blow out the flame
And it feels hated
Confused in darkness
It stands
It feels cold and neglected once more
Then you come by
Fire ready and destructive
You light the wick
And it feels used
Hurt in darkness
It hunches over in pain
It’s so warm, but it feels frigid
Then you come by
Intentions so heartless
And once again the flame is gone
And the candle wants it back
Stuck in darkness
Its just a nub
It wants the flame, needs it
Then you come by
Not needing the candle’s warmth or light
And the candle hates you
But loves your flame
Beaten and used in darkness
It doesn’t need you now
Just your flame
Then you come by
Not needing the candle
But you light it anyway
Thinking you’ve done it a favor
But your causing more pain
Cramped in light
The flame grows intense
The candle needs to be set free
