Cheated
She runs unaware of the soon to happen events,
The content look vanishes as she collapses.
She seems to stare through me with empty eyes,
As paws scratch against the hardwood floor.
The sobbing engulfs me,
The yelling “What do I do?” rings in my ears,
The smell of urine attacks my nose,
The shallow breathing scares me.
I see shocked faces as it grows eerily silent.
I taste my dry mouth as tears stream down my face.
I hear consoling words around me.
She stops and tries to figure out where she is.
She walks away, completely oblivious,
I am unprepared and overwhelmed.
I brush her fur and it tickles my lips,
I take one these photo before I say goodbye.
I feel cheated as she's pulled away,
Angry as she's snatched from me.
My eyes are puffy as she passes on.
I feel empty and sorrow-full in the days to follow
