Sister
Sister.
Are we sisters?
Do you hear me, Sister?
I am calling you.
Do you see me, Sister?
I’m standing in you shadow.
The place I’ve remained for so many years.
I’m tired of seeing your back, Sister.
The image I’ve seen for all this time.
Do you truly see me, Sister?
Can you see me in your shadow?
Do you see me now, Sister?
I am in the sun.
I feel the warmth on my cheeks.
I welcome the day.
Do you see me now, Sister?
Why don’t you turn around to look at me?
I cup my hands around my mouth and scream your name.
Sister.
I run in front of you and flail my arms before your face.
But you don’t even blink.
Can you see me now, Sister?
No you can’t, your eyes are closed.
You can’t even see the path before you.
And I am incapable of opening your eyes.
