Forgotten Sands
I am my own worst nightmare.
The beast beneath the waters,
covered in fangs
scales
and fear.
As I pace the murky water,
my lungs fill
with shame,
my feet slip on the sinking deck.
I am a dripping anchor maniac.
As I cling to the dark
depths,
I try to hold
on.
I am the sand in your shoes that irritates
until you finally shake me out,
and then you leave me on the cold ground,
to be washed away by
hopeless waves.
You heartless being.
You’ve forgotten the broken souls left in this silent water,
of drowned dreams,
of buried beauty,
never to be found.
I am the side of you
that you want no one to see,
your darkest horrors,
and your hidden treasures,
your tears
that have cried rivers.
I am my own tears
that have flooded the cities of
unseen sins.
