Ode to a Red Livestrong
A strip of coral upon a pallid wrist
You are a constant reminder
Of that time
Of that place
Of emotion
You hover silently like a helicopter
Over the pale ground
And touch down lightly every once in a while
Resurrecting my consciousness
You are always here, encompassing me
Like a friend much too good for oneself
Since you are a prisoner here, upon my arm
Unable to leave without permission
But I know you’d hug me regardless
Little ring of inscribed hearts
For you are my devotion
My dreams
My soul
For all of eternity if need be
Yes, I will shed you at some impending
Far away future date
But do not worry
As long as this fake smile is plastered
Upon my face
You shall be plastered upon
My unheld hand
