Blade to Blade in the Cathedral
Two knights square off,
their blades connecting.
The sounds echoing off the cathedral,
as the king and queen sit among their subjects.
Children cheer,
men and women laugh.
Their royal Highness's sitting idly,
smug smiles on their fake faces.
a cry come from a knight's lips,
as a blade pierces his armor.
Blood seeps through his fingers,
as he holds his body.
The triumphant knight looks to his lord,
waiting for an order.
The king raises his thumb,
holding it at a slant.
The crowd screams live and die,
the queen screams LIVE.
The king throws his thumb up,
and the knight retreats.
Thanking god,
for his life has been spared.
