Four Simple Letters
Black and white, no gray in between.
Black and white, simple, clean.
The picture is there,
Laid out for us all,
But the true meaning is hidden,
Hidden behind the wall.
See not with the eyes, but with the mind,
See not with the eyes, simple as time.
The wall is not hidden,
It is just hiding.
And only those willing to look,
Can see through the pages of a book.
Don’t open the cover, don’t turn the pages,
Don’t open the cover, just stare down the ages.
Time is just a game,
A game for all to play.
But when you lose, because the best of us do,
Just do what you do. Bid farewell without much ado.
Don’t write with a pencil, don’t write with a pen,
Don’t write with a pencil, just think instead.
Four simple letters,
One simple word,
Shaper than the edge of a knife,
Because frankly, it’s life.
