Sheer Bliss
Save the last dance, for me, to our song
Under Summer's last full moon
Arms wrapped around my waist
Hands intertwined as they rest on my stomach
Anticipating the kick of our unborn baby boy
My eyes close with one single touch from you
My head falls backward landing on your chest
Wanting to remember this moment forever
The stars mimic our movements
Their intense glow represents our burning passion
We dance to the rhythmic sounds of the night
The hoots of the owls nesting in the Elms nearby
The chirps on the crickets calling for a mate
Lady bugs dine on the bronze railing behind us
Enjoying the show
Summer's essence smells of Grandma's sweet potato pie
And the innocence of 1964 returns
In this moment all is right as the wind rushes through my jet black hair
Complementing my steel gray eyes
...summer's over
