Belly's Fire
The fire in my belly may one day wane,
But ‘til it does, my passion,
Has blazing will.
For these situations do remain.
Should my will continue fortissimo,
The score could just crescendo!
But would that be right?
Or shall I sleep both day and night?
When fire burns, surroundings melt.
Blazing, the environs burn.
Will my, above-and-below-the-belt,
Leave my insides ashes, my skin the urn?
This self-destruction, thought not my goal,
Might be for the good: might.
I may be whole,
And realise light.
If martyred by the flames,
I may yet achieve my aims.
