Sleeping Among Giants MAG
I slept on a bridge
In the middle of nowhere
Among giants.
I slept among trees
That looked like poles,
Too tall to see the top.
I slept above a stream
Old and bubbling slowly
Over pebbles and past wet leaves.
I slept seated with my head on a prickly wood rail
That pressed splinters against my cheeks
While the bridge wedged itself into my thighs.
And as I slept others did too –
My sister with her head in my lap,
My brother flat on the boards,
And my dad stood lost
Among the trees and the river.
And so we slept on
In the middle of nowhere
Among giants.
