SAT's
SAT’s
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by the SAT’s
Dragging themselves through books and classes,
Who passed through the halls with flash cards in hand,
Who stayed up all night memorizing and quizzing themselves on words and algorithms completely foreign to them,
Who bared their brains to questions written by scholars whose twelve digit zip code represent the numbers in their bank account,
Who ate fire in order to get their grades up to the government’s standards,
Who chained themselves to desks scrambling to finish the test,
Who cowered in rooms awaiting their results wiping the beads of sweat from the tops of their foreheads,
Who talked continuously about their fears and satisfactions,
Who suffered through words and numbers,
Who broke down crying in fear of not having a future,
Who reappeared in the end either suffering or victorious,
Who howled on their knees in pain or joy,
Those joyous and victorious questioning it's worth.
