Forget Me Not
Forget me Not
The petals part
Unevenly along the edges,
And gathered like messy hair
Red and solid,
The color almost taciturn;
You see it at every glance
Yet it seems the flower matters very little to you
And you leave it
Red with embarrassment
Along the bottom of the box.
The routine becomes familiar
And it continues to wait
For your warm hands to reach
Down down down
And rescue it,
Although you never do
Do not forget me, they whisper
The forget me nots,
Woken from their long slumber
And with stiff confidence
They freeze as ice
Dried,
To remain forgotten
Forever
