The Hidden
The hidden lovers lay in beds of straw,
Concealed by the night, they are only safe for a time,
A time so short in fact, that their hearts are never satisfied,
To keep their love and lovers a secret, to live a lie,
To be ashamed.
It is the way the hidden live, heartbroken and lonely,
They are lovely in ghostly beauty,
The poor dears are too afraid to hold their partner's hand in the light,
To walk side by side; woman and woman, man and man,
They avoid the mocking gaze of predators that lurk near by
