daylight
the wanting, and the needing, and the begging and the bleeding,
in the night, late nights unyeilding, the tempest in the feeling,
all the dreams and dreams impeding, all the blackened demons feeding
on the mind, the blackened mind, and time overtaking time
on a wave of rythmic piercing waves of trying to forget
sent pictures through the cloudy haze of never knowing when
it is to end, a prideful end, a spiteful prideful wish-bent end
to all the pain and guilty pain of men before us that we blamed
here in the daylight, light receding from the shadows softly bleeding
from a heaven, hell-bent heaven that the darkess could not stop
a god the light can't see to see the prayers that prayers can be
bright frightening lights the heat of night and hands that fight
to quiet pain pain of the same hot troubles now that dead men blame
and all the dead men die in vain here in the daylight.
