One Glimpse Than Gone
Birds seem to have the right idea
When it comes to flying away
They just take off and soar into the horizon
Without so much as a glance behind them
People are like that too
They leave you all alone
When the world is crumbling down
It’s up up and away when trouble strikes
And they never think of who they’re leaving behind
I know what it’s like
When you feel the essence of someone behind you
But when you turn around
It’s as if they’ve vanished in midair
People come into your life
Saying there are going to stay
But people are like the wind
They’re always moving
Always flowing ?Always changing
Always leaving
Yet we wonder why people close them selves from others
It’s not that we want to
We just don’t want to get hurt anymore
Too many lies and trust me’s
Have been heard to last a lifetime
Too many tears have reluctantly rolled down our cheeks
And too many doors have been slammed shut
Shunning you from the world
Every night I lie in bed
Wishing my bones were thin and hollow
And my arms were wings
So I could fly like a bird
Into the everlasting sky
With no second thoughts
No regrets
And no looking back
