My Old Wooden Ladder
I am climbing a wooden ladder
With one arm and one leg.
My wooden ladder is facing
Straight up, reaching towards
The sky.
There is nothing supporting me
Except my one arm and one leg.
My wooden ladder's rungs
Are spread two feet apart.
It is very hard to balance
On my old wooden ladder.
With one arm and one leg
I brace myself for the fall.
I hop.
I am taking a huge risk.
I grab.
I know I made a mistake.
I miss.
I am facing the consequences.
I am back on the floor.
I need to get to the top
Of my old wooden ladder.
