Once Was A Girl
Who is this person
I once thought to know,
But one look in the mirror
And for it nothing to show.
That there once was a girl
Who knew herself dear,
Who liked the reflection
That now does her fear.
One look to the mirror
And one look to many,
That she would despise
What many might prize.
One arrogant glance
One second for granted,
Shows that numbers do rule
In a life now regretted.
There once was a girl
Who knew herself dear,
Who like the reflection
That now does her fear.
After too long a time
Of doing herself crime,
She travels from the past
That chases so fast.
After to long a run
The present is done,
Lost to the past
That found her at last.
There once was a girl
Who knew herself dear,
Who liked the reflection
That now does her fear.
This girl I do know,
I’m sure you do too,
That girl is in me,
That girl is in you.
See your reflection
Let go of the fear,
Look into the future,
It is always so near.
