Feelings of a Truly Beautiful Teenage Girl
The guy she loves compliments them
The beautiful
Yet walks by her so effortlessly
Invisible
Day by day she strives to make the number go down
To be like them
The beautiful
The skinny
Day by day the meals get smaller
And each day she feels weaker
Hoping he notices her attempt to change for him
The change now visible
He notices and still walks by
Still invisible to him, now sick
Desperate for compassion
She climbs on the scale once more
Yet no numbers appear
For it is covered by a single sticky not
A single tear hits the small yellow square
“You are beautiful.”
