Driving Shades
Meet me somewhere where it’s always summer
somewhere where we can stay young forever
we can dance in the rain and wear big, long, flowing dresses
and wear bright purple lipstick
Meet me somewhere where ice cream is breakfast, lunch, and dinner
and everyone was still skinny
somewhere where 5Ks are easy to row
and there are no history exams (at least hard ones)
Meet me somewhere where rain feels like sunshine
somewhere where people don’t just hear, they listen
and people never put pants on backwards
somewhere where there is no gossip or backstabbing
Meet me somewhere where you can belch as loud as you want
and not get any strange looks
somewhere where mosquito bites don’t itch
and we don’t have to clean out litter boxes
So put on your driving shades
get that big map of yours out
withdraw some cash from the ATM
and gas up the car, big time
Tell me, would you come?

What a wonderful poem! The second stanza made me laugh, and the first and third made me smile gently with quiet joy. Isn't it great that we are all able to dream up the unrealistic and then follow the dream?
Thanks for writing this, it gave me considerable joy!
