A Present Not Mine
If I had it my way, I’d call you mine
Wrap a bow on your head, it would be just fine
Adorned with ribbons, you would stand
For a present of mine, can’t be bland
But it’s too late, you’ve been taken away
There is nothing to say; you just can’t stay
Every one knows one can’t re-gift
If I wanted something used, I’d shop the thrift
So don’t bother re-taping gift wrap
Or piecing together every last papery scrap
In matters of the heart, I don’t settle for sales
In comparison to new, your present utterly fails
