I'm Like a Leaf
I’m like a leaf
Inevitably constricted by grief
At times I soar
Never too long before I hit the floor
Carried by the breeze
I float in innocence through the trees
Until storm clouds come around
And my face hits the ground
Lively in the spring
I grow healthy with each new fling
But then comes the fall
Withered colors reveal truth to all
By winter- I am bitter
Taunted by the snowy glitter
Beauty- it’s only an allusion
Every leaf meets a crisp conclusion
