The Tree and Me
The lonely tree stands bare
In the stark and somber night
I, too, act like I don’t care
My limp limbs alone to its right
The stars share secrets unknown
As they peer at a sight to see
I stare back, wishing I had known
That unlike the tree, he could flee
So alike, we are
Broken bits of bark and heart
Stripped down, just too far
Together we stand, waiting for a new start
