The Way We Feel
I can’t stop feeling,
It’s rushing in,
crushing,
consuming,
killing and somehow living.
Feeling gives me pain,
with the hurt from joy,
and the stab of sadness.
Dying slowly inside,
yet somehow living,
a soul too big to bear,
I’m crushing under the weight of this love,
and oppressed by this happiness,
the heaviest weight to bear,
the press of emotion,
pushing me down,
and lifting me up.
Humanity as big as the world on my shoulders,
hopes,
dreams,
and desires.
Pain,
loss,
and hopelessness,
only exist because of it.
In my heart and mind they dance,
each wearing lead shoes,
falling through the floor,
smashing; poisoning.
The biggest burden to bear,
gives my strength.
The biggest burden to bear somehow manages,
to slowly age me,
and give me life.
I feel as if I’ll never die,
but death still knocks.
Superhuman,
mortal,
feelings,
obliterating me,
saving me.
