Threads and Flames
threads holding us together
binding our hearts forever and ever
flames that burn those threads
blowing our hearts
miles and miles apart
desperately, you hold your needle
trying to sew things back
but all you do is prick me
until I bleed, I cry, I scream
and you jump back, offended
that I flee from your needles
the threads, ends now frayed
wither away,
against the roaring flames
we kindled
you try to stomp out
the burning embers
I go around, trying to reignite
then we switch
and I find myself
vainly pouring water
on infinite flames
that you blame me for
but the matches are yours
the smoke chokes me
and you feign concern
but only for a moment
your skin is bursting
with a gradience of colors
I have the exstinguisher
but I love bittersweet revenge
your pleading eyes
win me over one last time
you hold me close
pinning us together
work the needles
back and forth
mending a stitch
that was sewn
in the wrong place
no patch is strong enough
to hold
our flame resistent hearts together
