Secrets
There are things I've never told anyone.
Secrets I've never dared to utter.
Oaths I've promised not to share.
For words can ruin lives.
There have been times
When I've imagined I can wish all the bonds away
And be free to share
This secret that is bearing down on my soul
I feel like Atlas holding up the world
With the weight of my promise on my shoulders.
Who knew two words could change so much?
"I Swear" is ruining my life.
But eventually there will be
A time when I can be free.
And this secret of yours I have
Will be a secret no more.
Only then will I be able to breathe
No longer constricted by the tightness of your lie
Free from the weight of your indiscretions
Free to make my own mistakes
