Perfectly Imperfect
You were perfectly imperfect
Just to say the least
As you watched time drift on by
All you wanted was to grow up
A wish we all do make
But the wind of years going by
Must have blocked your ears
Because I hate to think we didn’t shout
I hate to think we didn’t fight
And of course we put the blame upon ourselves
But what we did I do not know
Because you were perfectly imperfect
And we loved you anyways
It bewilders me to see how family works
Because who would have thought a dreadful event
Would have the strength to pull us together
Who would have thought a swerve in the road
Would lead us to each other
So yes I miss you and yes I love you
But understand it was for the best
Because somehow when you left us here
You left your strength behind
To pull us all together as one family
To gain our faith again
