Windy Road
While I was walking down a windy road
I happened upon a talking toad
This toad taught me how to tell a tale
As he told me his favorite about a whale
And as he sent me on my way
Back to my home by the end of day
I thought about that lonely toad
Wallowing on the windy road
And in silence I sowed the seeds of thought
To grow the answer that I sought
And then the thought occurred to me
A way for us both to be happy
I wouldn’t worry about that toad
And he wouldn’t wallow upon that road
With haste I left my house by night
And kept on moving til morning light
But alas I could not find my friend
By the time I’d reached the final bend
So all alone I strolled back to my house
As quite as an old church mouse
My head turned down, eyes on my feet
Hoping that again this toad I’d meet
Listening to hear a tale being told
By a talking toad on a windy road
