my mother
She insists I have my hair in curls
She insists I wear the trendiest clothes
She insists I act more like a girl
She insists I date a nerdy boy
She insists I do my homework exactly the way she thinks is best
She insists I write better
She insists I get better grades
better than the rest
She insists I go to to an ivy league school
She insists I look like a model
With a body as thin as a twig
But I insist I like the way I am
And I am never going to change
I am never good enough for her
And I don't give a damn
