King of the Basement
I know it’s after me. I know it breaths
People tell me it’s my imagination, but I know better.
They do not see or hear what I see and hear, through the basement door.
It’s gurgling stomach, its sinister chortle!
The King of the Basement waits for me and me alone
I summon my courage and my trusty hound,
I charge down the stairs with a loud battle cry.
My heart beats faster than my legs can carry.
My knees buckle, my hound whimpers in terror.
I hear a gurgle, I see two golden orbs, and I feel my stomach turn.
Before I commence my battle, I pray a prayer of conquest, and raise my frying pan
With a flash, and a clang, we at last meet.
His green skin, slime infested teeth, all like a pictured.
It claws in hunger; it chomps at my bare neck
I swing I thrust I give all that I have, and at last I gain the upper hand.
I defeat it, I gain deliverance, I become King of the Basement.
