Sally Eisner: Holocaust Survivor
I will never forget that fateful day,
The day they took my parents away.
Leaving a son without a father,
And no mother for a daughter.
In July of 1943 my parents were taken from me;
Taken away with no time to even flee.
As we worked our day away in the fields,
Their fate would be revealed.
Working day after day like a labor slave,
My parents were forced to dig there own grave.
Stripped of their clothes and dignity,
Shot with no morality.
My 13 year-old brother herd the sounds
Of mothers and fathers only left to be found.
He rushed to the battlefields only to find
Murdered victims of a wicked crime.
Day after day, year after year
The screams of those souls I will continue to hear.
They will stream through my veins
Like a cannon’s blaze.
Leaving everything to fear.
