Snapshots
Snapshots of days gone by,
Memory after memory, page
By page.
An album (or a memento) choc
Full of best friends, new
Places, “first love.”
My whole life, down to one box.
Regret of course, but
Something else entirely.
My grandpa’s vegetable patch
Plus a cherry tree.
Rides in the wheelbarrow.
Watch out for the corn monsters…
Third grade trip to Europe.
Castles, amusement parks, and a beautiful backyard gazebo.
Strawberry carts on the side of the road
Eel sandwiches taste like ham.
Summer, 2010, a hotel with a sentimental bond
Helped me identify the word “friend.”
And the word
Betrayal
Beach house.
I discovered who really kept me on the surface.
The algae isn’t really that hard to confuse with a shark after all.
Cliff diving=excuse to scream
School.
It’s not like I CHOSE to meet these people.
Yet for better or worse, here I am.
Mission #236: Survive to sophomore year.
A used book store.
Two stories, plus an attic.
One orange tabby balancing on the railing.
Untold wonders no one else thinks useful.
Swimming pool.
Every day, 2:30 P. M.
Pull, kick, breathe.
There’s always room for improvement.
Breathe in
Life.
Incomplete,
Just like
The carbon-based being I call
Myself.
The future is a snapshot.
